Veterans fought for our safety and freedom....
And now we will do the same for them. For some, the memories may be fading, but we have not forgotten what they sacrificed for our safety and freedom. That's why we make every effort to instill and maintain a sense of independence and freedom in our veteran residents, regardless of their level of health. The memory care program at our Texas State Veterans Homes provide safety and security for veterans experiencing memory loss. Security features allow our residents to enjoy indoor and outdoor walking paths and gardens.
The memory care living areas are bright and cheery, with soothing music playing throughout the day. Spacious common areas are filled with comfy furniture and multiple activity stations, including televisions, to keep our residents relaxed and entertained. It's the perfect place to chat with friends and family. Our residents enjoy secured court yards filled with a variety of beautiful, colorful flowers.
Meaningful activities directed by our compassionate staff
The activities directors at our Texas State Veteran Homes are truly dedicated to enriching the lives of veteran memory care residents. Resident birthdays are celebrated. Common areas are decorated for every holiday. And, a variety of activities take place all day, every day. From Bingo to Bible study - there's always something new to do. Residents enjoy arts and crafts, in-house musical performances, exercise classes, and even sports like soccer and basketball!
With person-centered care, specially trained activity staff identify preserved capabilities, previous roles, habits, and interests of individuals with memory loss to appropriately develop activities and care plans customized to the individual resident that are meaningful and enjoyable. Our specialized memory care programming provides activities in an environment that is meaningful, purposeful, and success-oriented. The activities program focuses on meeting the social, physical, emotional, spiritual, and cognitive needs of our residents.
