About Windcrest
Windcrest is a uniquely designed care center that offers the necessary surroundings to accommodate the needs of a person with Alzheimer's or other debilitating dementia. We provide care for people in a Christian environment that allows residents to have a sense of security and a feeling of safety and trust. The care center has 5 distinct physical areas that match the levels of the disease to provide the necessary surroundings throughout each stage. Each area is self-contained with its own outside courtyard and activity, and dining areas. Each employee of Windcrest Alzheimer's Care Center has specialized training in caring for those with dementia that helps the employee understand the disease process, how to communicate well, and manage common behaviors associated with those with Alzheimer's and other dementias.
Activity-focused Programming - Five full-time activity directors run an activity-focused care program. Developed around daily living, social interaction and mental exercise, the activities at Windcrest coordinate with residents’ mental and physical abilities. Activities offer residents opportunities to make choices, exercise control and gain a sense of self-esteem in a failure-free environment. For those in the more advanced stages of dementia, activities are simplified, but are equally important, and offer visual and physical stimulation.
Caring for the caregiver - Windcrest offers support services to assist caregivers in coping with the stress of prolonged involvement with Alzheimer’s patients. These services are designed to help caregivers deal with feelings of depression, anger, hopelessness and other emotions that increase the burdens associated with care.
Resource Center - Our Alzheimer's Resource Center offers a library of books and videotapes as well as counseling and referral services to family members and others in the community. Staff members are available for program presentations, training seminars to community groups, and organizations interested in gaining knowledge about this disease process.
