Sears Methodist Retirement System: The Canyons Retirement Community

History

The Canyons was originally constructed in the 1920s as the Northwest Texas Hospital.  The original 1920's construction comprised the first three floors of the building.  In 1966-67, the hospital addded a new main entry, lobby, offices and infrastructure with their Northwest Texas Hospital Front Door Project.  The Good Samaritan Retirement Center purchased the property and converted it into the Good Samaritan Retirement Center in 1982 and operated it from 1983 through 1993.  Sears Methodist Retirement System took over The Canyons Retirement Community in 1993.
